For some high school athletes, getting the recognition needed to be able to play beyond high school can be difficult. Three-time NBA Champion and two-time NBA MVP Stephen Curry of the Golden State Warriors is no stranger to that feeling. When he graduated from high school in 2005, Curry was only a three-star prospect who hadn’t received any of the right opportunities to play on the level he believed he could. He didn’t let this stop him from playing basketball, though. Curry continued to play at Davidson College, where he won the attention of coaches and scouts. With hard work and dedication, Curry turned the doubters into believers. As a result of his personal basketball journey, Curry wanted to create an environment where young athletes could learn the skills and advice and receive the encouragement they need to succeed. With the support of Rakuten, Steph Curry created the Underrated Tour, a seven-stop U.S. tour that gives high school basketball players the chance to become better players and demonstrate their potential. For Allyah Cartajena, this was the opportunity she had been searching for. Allyah was grateful to be able to play alongside female athletes just like her, representing unlimited potential yet lacking the attention they deserve. To participate in the Underrated Tour and make sure she made it back in time for her high school basketball game, Allyah flew to and from Phoenix, Arizona to Walnut, California in the same day. Rakuten is proud to partner with the Underrated Tour to support dedicated athletes like Allyah who are willing to go above and beyond to become the best in the game. To Allyah, Curry represents fearlessness because no matter what people said about him, he never gave up and kept pushing towards achieving his dream. When you believe in the future like Allyah, Curry and Rakuten, the possibilities are endless. Learn more about Stephen Curry, Rakuten and the Underrated Tour here: https://www.rakuten.com/
