MultiVersus Gameplay

MultiVersus is a growing, free-to-play platform fighter featuring playable characters from Warner Bros. Discovery intellectual properties. This includes numerous characters from the DC Universe, Looney Tunes, Scooby-Doo, and plenty more movies and shows. While it was initially available as an early access title in 2022 and 2023, the full game was released in May 2024 with 26 playable characters. The roster has burgeoned to a grand total of 32 playable characters with more likely on the way in future seasons.

In “Adventure Time,” Marceline is a powerful vampire who has lived over 1,000 years. She’s known for her vampiric abilities and her love for playing the electric bass. Initially an antagonist, Marceline eventually befriends the heroic Finn and his dog Jake and becomes one of their most powerful and trustworthy allies. She joins Finn, Jake, and the Banana Guard as the fourth playable “Adventure Time” character to be included on the MultiVersus roster.

MultiVersus Gameplay

Both variations of the new Candy Kingdom map are also faithful to the source material. The regular Candy Kingdom is a daytime stage with a larger area to fight on, while Candy Kingdom 2 is a smaller map that depicts the kingdom after dark. As with the Candy Kingdom in the show, the new Candy Kingdom 2 map features a cast of delicious anthropomorphic desserts who will watch the fight from the sidelines. Peppermint Butler, a character who appears in numerous episodes of the show, is one of the many spectators on this new map. There are also moving side platforms made of marshmallows that fighters can battle on.

Marceline’s in-game moveset highlights many of her signature vampiric and musical abilities. One of her signature weapons is her axe-like bass, which is utilized in her ground side attack, normal air neutral attack, and normal air side attack. She also has two stances: A normal one and a bass stance. The bass stance allows her attacks to become music notes and gives her the power to unleash powerful finishing attacks. As a vampire, Marceline also can transform into her bat form with her special attacks. She’s labeled as a bruiser in the game’s class system, meaning that she is proficient in close-range combat and a good choice for new players of the game.

MultiVersus Gameplay

MultiVersus Season 4: Midnight Misfits will run until January 21 with new themed events and skins on the horizon. While players will likely have to wait a while for Season 5 news, the additions of Marceline and Raven, and the existing cast of characters, leave plenty of room for platform-fighting mayhem in the world of *MultiVersus.
